Aperture Issue 240 - Native America

$ 24.95

This issue of Aperture was created in part by guest editor Red Star who is Apsáalooke (Crow) in interest of creating a publication she wishes she would have been able to read as a young person with aspirations of becoming an artist. The people included in this issue have all "played an important role in forging pathways, in opening up space in the art world for new ways of seeing and thinking". The artists in this issue counter the narrative of erasure with narratives of reclamation. The cover photograph is by Martine Gutierrez, appearing before her own camera in the guise of her father wearing heirloom Mayan textiles. There is more of her work inside amongst the works of many other inspiring photographers.
