We are back at the shop after a very inspiring trip to Paris. We had a quick stop in New York on the way to visit some of our favorite clothing designers and see their collections for spring. And then off across the ocean to visit the one and only Astier de Villatte and to search for other decoration/objects/home collections as well. What fun and what a success it was. We are very excited by what we have found, by what small makers are doing and by the conversations we got to have about all the change and interesting things going on in our industry and shop world. It boils down to the fact that the independent designers and makers are where it's at. I think this has always been the case, but especially right now when there is so much change with bigger names and a sort of flattening of personality and character in our culture... the smaller, independent designers are the ones really pushing the envelope. And only naturally because of the true love and care they put into what they make. Paying close attention to every tiny step of their processes, the hand/s involved, the obsession with beautiful design, the list goes on. We received a few booklets from designers dedicated solely to their choice of fabrics - where each one comes from, why they were chosen, how they feel... what makes them special. It feels like a growing contrast right now to the rest of what's out there and we couldn't be more thrilled with what we see coming from this world of incredible designers and makers.
So now we are back to our daily shop endeavors, getting ready to bring you some new beautiful pieces soon. Also sharing great small collections from both Nicholson & Nicholson and JUD above, photographed on our friend Heather. The pants from Nicholson and Nicholson fit beautifully. They are very flattering with a high rise, flat front and straight leg. They come in a navy cotton as well as a brown corduroy. The brown shirt in the first and fourth pics is so lovely - it's light as air, yet crisp and structured. It's great for the season because you can easily layer over it and it doesn’t feel bulky. An element we love when bundling up in colder weather. The jacket in the third photo is a beautiful continuation of this style - we had it last fall in tan. The navy is great with a back corduroy collar. And the gorgeous hand-knit sweater by JUD feels incredible. It's made of a silk and wool combination that has a lovely texture and super soft hand. There are more arrivals from JUD as well - you can see them all in our wardrobe section.
Fall officially starts next week - we hope you are all enjoying the change in season! We sure are! Thank you for being here with us and sharing in the love of the unique, special and carefully made <3
