It's my mom's birthday today! Here she is in another place and time, before a shop, and with my brother and I. My mom was raised on the Alisal Ranch in Solvang, CA. Her father, who she was very close with, ran the cattle and farm end of the ranch. Growing up this way is forever ingrained in her - it gave her lots of personality and devotion to things she loves. She is completely self taught in all things aesthetic and shop related. Her house is filled with great books... there is no wifi - in fact, she only uses a phone for calling and for the rare text. She's an original, and I admire her so much for that. We have had our shop together, now going on 17 years. It has been such an adventure with lots of ups and downs... we made it through times we thought we would have to close... and we've celebrated together each year that we've made it. Always together. She is my biggest support and I am her biggest fan. Happy birthday mom!
