We are so excited to welcome a new collection to the shop - Devagar Living. Devagar means slow in Portuguese, which is the essence behind the design and production of this beautiful collection. We were so lucky to meet the designer Teresa Golpe while on a family trip to Portugal this year - an introduction made by Christine Chitnis - who many of you might know through her beautiful book Patterns of Portugal. On our last day in Portugal as we were getting back to Lisbon for our flight the next day, we scurried off to meet Teresa at her beautiful home. There she showed us all the incredible things she was making in Portugal - from linens to bedding to ceramics, you name it! Teresa shared with us that she has taken the time to meet makers throughout the country to collaborate with - to see their specialties in ways of making and create different collections with all this know how. Teresa has an incredible eye for finesse and quality and we were blown away by all she was making - not to mention the special place in which she was living and sharing with us her collections. We worked with Teresa to put together a collection of bowls, cups and candleholders for the shop. We created a custom color variation that would allow the pieces to be mixed beautifully if so desired. The result is a brown made just for our shop, mixed with rose, turquoise and blue. Shown above is a selection of pieces from the collection. The bowls are the perfect size for cereal, soup or salad. The espresso cups are wonderful and can also be used as salt cellars. The larger cups can be drinking cups and they can also be used as small vases... we also think one would make a beautiful toothbrush holder. The candlesticks are beautiful as well! We are so happy to have this collection in our hands and to offer it to you after all these months. All these pieces would also make great gifts - as they are all handmade, hand painted... and simply special! You can see it all in our home section.
