We hope you can join us at the shop, one week from today, to meet John Robshaw and see his beautiful fall bedding collection. We're so looking forward to welcoming John to Tucson for this event. It will be a fun celebratory afternoon! Refreshments will be served <3
We wanted to share a little bit of the history of Nicholson & Nicholson, a collection we love for its classic feel and beautiful, many times crisp textures. The founders are a husband and wife team - Yusuke and Yuka Nakagawa. Yusuke grew up with his father owning a men's shop specializing in British and other European brands. The name Nicholson & Nicholson was used for the first shirt he created as an original item for his father's shop. Further down the line, this name became the name of his small collection that he created with his wife Yuka. During the formative years of their collection, Yusuke studied art history in Florence, Italy, and was inspired by the timeless beauty that was passed down from generation to generation. He wanted to integrate this idea into contemporary styles. Yuka was working as a buyer and was deepening her knowledge of fabrics, patterns and sewing at an apparel trading company. Together with all this experience, their interest lies in connecting tradition with modernity, and it really is felt in their collection. You can mix these styles with other pieces easily... it has a great versatility.
We love the turtlenecks, there is something about the way a turtleneck classically frames the face. The grey one in the first photo is timeless, easy, goes with everything. It also comes in a russet brown that is like a deep burgundy. Both look great with navy. N & N also makse the heavier navy turtleneck in the second photo with a split neck detail at the foldover. It's gorgeous. The white blouse with a ruffle neckline would be so fun to layer with a crewneck - the navy Biggie Pullover from Eleph would be a great match! And the pants that Jettie is wearing in the photo with this white blouse are stunning and fit beautifully. A shop favorite! The coat in the last photo is a wonderful piece with its vintage feel. We love the way Linda Wright styled this a few weeks back with jeans, a beautiful scarf and loafers... not to mention a beautiful bag from her shop (Crimson Cashmere).
It's all so fun - we are just loving all the fall collections we have received and will continue to share a bit more about the different designers <3
Beautiful pieces by Bunon are now availlable in our wardrobe section. The Big Collar Shirt is such a fun piece. The Polkadot Coat is also just stunning. It's all very special - and made with such loving care and attention. You can see it now in our wardrobe section <3
In thinking of the heartbreaking news of Diane Keaton's passing, we are remembering the first time she came into our shop and how absolutely wonderful she was in person. She was as quirky and original as her characters were. She was herself. At that time, it was all about blogs and sharing sites on the internet and she said, have you been featured on Remodelista? We said no we hadn't been... she said, why not?! As though it was an obvious no brainer. She said she was going to contact her friend who was the founder, as we should definitely be on the site according to her. A few months go by and we are surprised by an article on Remodelista... and not only that, but Diane wrote the article herself! We were so completely and happily surprised. It speaks to Diane's originality and genuine character... she simply connected with our shop and didn't care that we weren't in a city hub (far from it, in the middle of the desert!)- it didn't matter, she liked what she liked. She spent her precious time to write an article about us, and we simply couldn't believe it. We still can't.
We have lots of fun stories about her, she was delightful and so cool in the true sense of the word. We liked a lot of the same things and she would get gifts for her friends from our shop each Christmas. A truly generous spirit. We are honoring her and thinking about her a lot right now. At a time when so much - fashion, ideas, even personality is repeated, copied and recycled through social media, it's so heartwarming to think of Diane, someone who kept it true to herself. What she brought to the screen, to art, to the world of interiors and style will always remain a gift to all of us. How lucky we are.

We also love the Eleph Ange Jacket with the Runaway bicycle Kent Pants in burgundy as shown in the fourth photo above. There are endless ways to mix these beautiful pieces!
